On Monday, September 7, 2020, Deputy Sheriff Jose Mora passed away from complications related to the Covid19 virus. This virus was contracted while Jose and another deputy were transporting a homicide suspect from Oklahoma, back to Fresno. He was performing his job when this occurred. Jose fought a courageous battle against this deadly virus.

Today we honor a fallen Fresno County Sheriff Deputy Jeff Isaac who was killed in the line of duty, Sept 8, 1997, 25 years ago – a solo vehicle accident near the City of Reedley CA, and only minutes from where Jeff and his family lived.

Today we honor fallen Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Erik Jon Telen who was gunned down by a burglary suspect in the mountains of Fresno County (Dunlap, CA) on August 21, 2001.

The suspect’s fleeing car was traveling in excess of 90 miles an hour when it struck Josh’s unmarked patrol vehicle.

On May 20, 2002, Deputy Sheriff Dennis Phelps was gunned down in eastern Fresno County during a vehicle stop on a suspicious vehicle/suspect in the area of Locan and Shepard. Prior to the deadly shooting, the suspect was alleged to have shot at a parking lot sweeper in the area of Herndon and Fowler. Dennis initiated the stop based on the BOLO at 2355 hours on May 19, 2002. Officers from Clovis PD and FSO found Dennis lying in the street near the vehicle he stopped, and his patrol car was gone.

On Sundy, July 25, 2021 Deputy Sheriff Phillip Campas was shot and killed by a hostage taker in Waso.

On Saturday, June 26, 2021, Deputy Sheriff Anthony Redondo was involoved in an on-duty vehicle accident. Tragically, on Sunday, June 27, 2021 he succumbed to his wounds.

On Friday, June 4, 2021, Detective Ryan Park and his wife Detective Jaime Huntley-Park were both killed in a head on vehicle crash while working on a follow-up to a case.

The Fresno Deputy Sheriff's Association is selling raffle tickets to support retired FSO Deputy Chris George and his wife Jomarie in her fight against cancer.

On Monday, San Bernardino Sheriff's Sergeant Dominic Vaca was shot during a gun battle. He was transported to the hospital but tragically died from his wounds.

On Tuesday, May 11, 2021 Officer Jimmy Inn was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call.

On Thursday, February 25, 2021 Deputy Thomas Albanese was killed in a motorcycle crash.

CHP Officer Ornelas passed away yesterday, December 2, 2020 as a result of a vehicle collision last week. He was 27 years old and had been a member of the Department for four years.

In honor of California Peace Officers' Memorial Day, May 6, 2020, we pay tribute to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Sweet gestures go a long way! Thankful this Thursday for our friends at World’s Finest Chocolate. They donated hundreds of chocolate bars to deputies and all of us on the front lines policing Fresno County during the COVID-19 crisis. It was their way of thanking local law enforcement officers during this pandemic. We sure appreciate the thoughtful treat! It made our day!!

Officer Marylou Armer passed away on March 31, 2020 after battling the COVID-19 virus while being infected on the job. Armer was one of four who first tested positive for the virus. She had served with the agency for 20 years and was 43 years old.
